DRACUT HIGH SCHOOL
2009-2010 Boys Basketball
Before we begin tonight’s contest we would like to celebrate and recognize this year’s senior class for the Dracut Middies. We would also like to recognize the parents of those seniors, for it is with their support and encouragement that these seniors have been able to contribute so much to the Dracut Basketball Program.
I would ask at this time that Joe Oskowski meet his mother Carolon the court at this time.
Our first of seven seniors we would like to recognize tonight is Joe Oskowski. Joe has been our team manager for us this season. He has been dedicated to his job and helped make us better each day, doing all the little things that others did not want to do, but all things that made us a better team. Joe has been a positive influence, and active member of the team and is liked by all. Joe is looking to attend Northern Essex in the Fall.
Ladies and Gentleman: Joe Oskowski.
I would ask at this time that David Parent meet his parents Michael and Margaret Parent on the court.
Our next senior we would like to recognize tonight for all his contributions and efforts is David Parent, whom is one of our team’s tri-captains. As a two-year varsity member David has blossomed into a player the whole team and myself have come to rely as a catalyst for us this season, and one of the main reasons for our MVC Championship this year. He is a three sport athlete playing football in the Fall and Baseball in the Spring. His competitiveness will be something that is not easily replaced next year. He is looking forward to attending Bridgewater State College next Fall.
Ladies and Gentleman: One of our teams great success stories this year, Number 20, David Parent.
I would ask at this time that Stephen Diamantopoulos meet his parents Jim and Nancy Diamantopoulos.
Our third senior that we would like to distinguish tonight is Stephen Diamantopoulos. Stephen has returned to us for his senior year and was able to contribute in more ways than can be expressed. Stephen is also a three sport athlete playing soccer in the Fall where he was named a league All-Star, and plays Lacrosse in the Spring. Stephen is choosing between Southern NH, Merrimack College, or Mass Maritime after graduation.
Ladies and Gentleman: Number 33, Stephen Diamantopolous.
I would ask at this time that Kyle Adie meet his parents Steve and Janet Adie at center court.
The fourth senior we would like to acknowledge tonight is Kyle Adie. Kyle has also returned to basketball for his senior year after taking a year off, and we are all glad that he did. Kyle has helped solidify the depth we have on the team with his competitiveness and aggressive style of play. He is a three sport athlete, playing soccer in the Fall where he was named All-Conference and All State and 2 times named Lowell Sun All-Star as well as Lowell Sun Player of the Year. He also plays baseball in the Spring and is a National Honor Society member. He will be attending U-Mass in the Fall where he will be playing Baseball.
Ladies and Gentleman: Number, Kyle Adie.
Would Julissa Preulx, meet her son Rakeem at center court.
Rakeem has been a four year varsity member on the basketball team and one of leagues best all around athletes. Rakeem has been a selfless competitor for us this year and took a roll that made the team better, but statistically for him personally may have hurt, all without complaint. Another three sport athlete Rakeem, is the current State Long Jump Champion and is a 3-time All-Conference football player, and also a Lowell Sun All-Star. His tenacity and athleticism has been a welcomed addition during his years here at Dracut. Rok is looking to attend Dean College or Kimball-Union in the Fall where he will play football.
Ladies and Gentleman: 4 Rakeem Shepherd
I would ask at this time that the parents of Tom Szymanski, Alec and Kelly Szymanski, meet their son on the court.
Our sixth senior, Tom Szymanski, is an also two-year varsity member for the Middies. Tom is also a three sport athlete and one of the team’s tri–captains. Competing in football, Tom was three times named MVC All-Conference and also named a Lowell Sun All-Star this past season. He participates in Track in the Spring is also a National Honor Society Member. As one of the key components to this team’s success this year, Tom has been able to play a versatile roll for us night in and night out. After receiving many offers to play football at various colleges, Tom has decided on Philips Academy.
Ladies and Gentleman: #1, Tom Szymanski
I would ask at this time that Aaron Barbosa meet his parents Paul and Sharon Barbosa at Center Court .
Our last senior, Aaron Barbosa is also one of the team’s tri-captains, a two year varsity starter, and has been a workhorse for the Middies for the past two seasons. Aaron is also considered to be one of the Merrimack Valley’s top high school true student athletes. Another a three sport Athlete, Aaron has been a Lowell Sun All-Star for both Soccer and Baseball, MVC All-Conference two times for Soccer, MVC All-Star for baseball and Basketball as well as an MVC All-Conference selection for baseball last year. Aaron has been a High Honor Roll student throughout his career at DHS and is ranked in the top 4 percent of his class. He has been a member of student council and the peer mentor group throughout his high school career. Aaron is a class act on and off the court and will be missed throughout the Dracut high school community next year. Aaron is looking to attend Tufts or Northeastern University where he will study engineering.
Ladies and Gentleman: Number 23, Aaron Barbosa
As you can see from these individual high school resumes, I have been blessed to have had the opportunity to coach them. These seven seniors have proven on and off the court they have what it takes. They carry themselves with class and they have made our program a much stronger one, and for that I am truly grateful. Thank-you, and congratulations to all of this year’s seniors and their parents.
